Middle East Crisis

Of course, there is no simple answer to the Israel – Palestine situation and just attempting to talk about it will inflame many factions and the discussions alone could lead to additional violence; but we can’t bury our heads in the sand and hope it goes away or allow for thousands of innocent people to be killed. History has shown that mankind has a responsibility to halt mass murder. So purely from a conceptual perspective NONPOL we would suggest the North – South Korea model be used, where the country is split into two landmasses with a large, demilitarized zone in the middle. A major United Nations armed force would control this demilitarized zone, as well as running it like a freeport, to allow safe passage and tourism. Jerusalem, Jerico and Bethlehem would all obviously sit in the demilitarized zone. Religious beliefs, history, politics and fanaticism MUST take second place to the protection of human life and freedom of the individual.
