Make the UK Healthy Again (Video Transcript)

Make UK Healthy Again by rewarding the healthy.

The US have RFK to Make America Healthy Again, love him or hate him you can’t argue with the sentiment, unless you are a person who lines your pockets from the industries poisoning us all. RFKs approach is to litigate the food and drug industries, going to the root cause, which makes sense, with his long history in environmental litigation. We believe he will do well, so much so that the whole food and chemical industries are going to go through a seismic change. NONPOL agrees with this approach and we should take a similar approach in the UK. Besides suing the companies that poison us, we would introduce a sugar tax and a mechanism to subsidise healthy food, in particularly supporting local produce farmers and fresh food markets. However, NONPOL would go one step further and help individuals become healthy by providing incentives for the effort of changing your lifestyle. This is a new and revolutionary approach, again based on pure logic and common sense.

Currently there is no incentive of financial reward for being healthy. If people were healthier, we would save billions on health care and medications. These savings should be given back to the healthy people. Our environment makes it harder to become healthy and unhealthy food is even designed to be addictive, making it even harder to move away from this food poisoning. Currently if you have 4 health conditions you could get attendance allowance of £108 per week; this is rewarding being unhealthy. Also, if you have some health conditions you get a free mobility car every 3 years. Again, rewarding bad health. NONPOL know that certain conditions may be hereditary or not the fault of a bad lifestyle and these genuine people need support. BUT, there are many conditions that are purely health related, such as type 2 diabetes, which is costing the UK taxpayer billions per month and is now at epidemic levels. It also earns a fortune for the food and pharmaceutical industries, so they have no incentive to change. Most type 2 diabetes can be reversed by better diet and an active lifestyle. Insurance companies have noticed this and offer rewards to their members that follow a healthier lifestyle so that insurance claims are reduced. This is a great business model and NONPOL want to introduce a Health Incentive program across the UK.

NONPOL would set goals for individuals to achieve and then reward them if they follow a healthy lifestyle. Currently there are a lot of people who are already health conscious and use very little medication or attend doctors or hospital. NONPOL would reward these people instantly. Rewards would be small things such as free Netflix, Amazon, broadband, mobile phone plans, and other attractive benefits. Bigger rewards for people who maintain good health over time, such as 12 months continuously healthy, would get credit card bills and personal loans at 2 points over base rate or free air miles or hotel reward points. NONPOL would work with gyms and leisure centres to offer exercise programmes and weekly weigh-ins, as well as other checks, such as blood pressure monitoring, to monitor people’s health. NONPOL would also work with GP practises and have blood testing facilities at a surgery to monitor people’s blood every few months. It would be very easy to monitor people getting healthier, so that they can be rewarded for all their hard work. NONPOL also believes there is a lot of fraud or misuse of benefits that are health related, such as the attendance allowance and mobility vehicles, especially where the recipients have a lot of money or assets. Benefits should be for people who struggle, not rich people having free benefits. All health-related benefits would be recorded on the individuals account and if at probate they have a large estate, then all their benefits would be repaid back to the taxpayer. We must discourage benefit fraud and abuse of our benefits system. We must make it easier, more fun and rewarding to become and stay healthy.
